All this Social Networking bothers me on several levels. It’s great to keep in touch with friends and family and in some cases its nice to be able to “chat” with a group of people at the same time, all getting the same info but does anyone really want to know what you’re eating or how many times you’ve had a pee or even what pub you’re in? I like a laugh and a joke and have a banter with friends but I’m not all that keen on the discussions being recorded and maybe scrutinised. I’m also not too keen on having all my email messages stored on a server somewhere so that electronic data mining bots can scrutinise the contents.
There is no denying that anything posted/uploaded to the web (alias the Cloud) can hang around for years like a bad smell. Some innocent and/or unwise comments can be taken out of context and you end up in prison, once it’s on the Web; it’s there for eternity 🙂
It bothers me that certain companies provide all these services and email storage facilities for free! It’s reckoned that the most expensive meal is a “free lunch”! Like a true Yorkshireman, I hear all, I see all and I say nowt (nothing) unless it’s to my advantage 🙂
You can always tell a Yorkshireman, but not much!
